War Indicators

WAR - What could be the possible indicators to look out for? Below is what I think one should look out for.(Between two nations)

1) Prolonged rivalry or antagonism.
2) Sudden situation of one getting better, while other getting worse.(economically, technically, globally)
3) Unable to pressurise each other through international bodies.
4) Third nation fueling the conflict for its own benefit.
5) Starting open blame game and showing resiliency to it.
6) Discussions by both with international bodies and super powers with motive of gathering support.
7) Identify political situation, economic situation & international support
8) Identify current military preparedness. (Identify your strength)
9) Identify important cities and spruce up the security.(Identify your weakness)
10) Compete with Strength display exercises.
11) Blocks: trade, entry into the country.
12) Indicators to country's major business houses to wrap business in other country.
13) Securing financial system of the country(banks - BCP plans).
14) Public sector companies on high alert.(Dams,Power stations,Nuclear Stations, transport etc)
15) International deals to acquire more weapons without much fanfare.
16) Increasing prices of steel and iron.
17) Restrictions on forex.(government wants to retain foreign currency)
18) Reduced all activities within country.
19) Blame the other country for something.
20) Justify your future actions and look for international support.

MBC

"If you can't convince them, confuse them"

MBC is Management By Confusion.
It's a great tool in the CYA (Cover your a***) category. When you are not prepared for a meeting but you need to speak up to make your presence felt, MBC comes to your rescue. You talk and create confusion and call for a next round of meeting.

There's a lot of MBC going on recently where I work. Since there is no clear direction from the senior management as yet, the middle level managers are all going berserk. They are doing things which doesn't justify their actions and creating more trouble.

The other way of looking at MBC is when the person quoting MBC is stupid to not understand what is being done or said. For him, he is totally lost as he doesn't get the direction and feels others are creating confusion.

If someone says there is MBC happening, either he is right or he does not have the full picture.

I am learning newer and newer things every day. My vision getting broader and broader. Trying harder and harder to look at the bigger picture every day.

Every time I learn more, every time I know more - every time I feel so small. When I knew little I was happy, But now I know more. My surrounding environment has grown - from myself to my family and my relatives to my community, my society, my nation , my world and my existence.

I could relate this to the movie 10000 BC. A hunter who could not find food for his family leaves his home in search for food. He comes in contact with other tribes and a completey different world. His vision broadens and he feels responsible for a whole lot of people now than his own family. He fights now, not for himself and his family, but for all the other people. His family has grown. His environment now much bigger.

But for his wife and kids, he is lost. They felt that he no longer cared for them. His son felt that hi father is running from his responibility.

What is happiness??? Having a closed environment and enjoying life with people within or fighting for a whole lot of people.
Can all people have a broad vision and still be happy?

Shell Scripts

In ancient times, when there was no paper, learned men who wanted to pass on their knowledge wrote their manu-scripts on stones, barks of trees, shells , leaves and so many things. Activity so called as script writing.

Yesterday when I was told I have a 2 day training on shell script writing, I was amazed and immediately this thought came to my mind. Wonderful it would be, to learn writing on a bark of tree or a leaf or a sea shell or using a chisel to carve a stone with my scripts.

Suddenly reality crept in. I am an IT professional, working on the foremost in technology that man has ever invented. Quite virtual, where even if you write something you don't acually have anything physical to show that it is your script/writing. I was being scheduled for a unix shell script language training.

My First Blog

Everybody seems to be blogging these days. And it is quite an easy way of expressing ourselves. There is lot that I think about and it just dies out over time without getting expressed.

I am starting this blog with the objective of expressing "my thoughts" before it vanishes.
